Bus driver trusted sat nav and got stuck in a field
On Monday evening, the members of the Ottnang am Hausruck fire brigade were celebrating the birthday of the former equipment attendant when the alarm was raised. A bus driver had relied on his navigation device, ignored a traffic sign and got stuck in a field.
A strange mission for the Ottnang am Hasruck fire department on Monday evening: a bus that was being used as a rail replacement service got stuck on a dirt track. The driver relied on his navigation device and disregarded the "dead end" traffic sign. Many of the emergency services who were alerted had the same route to the scene because they were at a birthday party together.
The approach was difficult because the fire engines could not get through the railroad underpass. The landowner used a tractor to pull the bus back onto solid ground.
