New information portal on Arlberg tunnel closure
On April 16, the Arlberg Tunnel will be closed, and Asfinag will provide ongoing information about the renovation work on an online information portal.
On April 15, Asfinag will begin the second phase of the renovation and the associated closure of the Arlberg Tunnel on the Arlberg Expressway. To keep all road users and local residents up to date, Asfinag has once again compiled all information on its own website with immediate effect. "This platform is constantly updated, provides comprehensive information about the construction measures and, in particular, presents the framework conditions for the traffic solutions and bypass options. The Arlberg Pass is the regional alternative route, but cannot be used by everyone. The dedicated website gives everyone the opportunity to find out who can drive over the pass or has to take a long-distance detour," confirm the two ASFINAG managing directors Andreas Fromm and Stefan Siegele.
All the key points and content can be found clearly at www.asfinag.at/sperre-arlbergtunnel. Importantly, the alternative routes, regional and long-distance, are just as clear as questions and answers about the annual toll card, exemptions for trucks, bicycles and much more.
Asfinag emphasizes that some details can always change. This website therefore remains a source of information that can be updated quickly and promptly. This also applies to the final decisions of the respective authorities, which can also be found there once they are available.
The focus of the renovations is on the roadway on the Vorarlberg side. Asfinag is also renewing the St. Jakob toll station and the entire toll area. This will again result in a detour variant with destination and source traffic zones. 75 million euros are being invested in the renovation. In addition to the complete renewal of the carriageway, the tunnel coating and drainage in the tunnel will also be renovated.
