Resident in hospital
A pot forgotten on the stove triggered a firefighting kit
A caller reported heavy smoke in an apartment building in Vorklostergasse in Bregenz to the police control center on Monday morning at around 0.30 am. When the emergency services arrived, they found the caller, who had already fled from his apartment, in the stairwell.
The resident, who had apparently already inhaled smoke, was taken to Bregenz Regional Hospital by ambulance as a precaution. Meanwhile, the fire department fought their way into the heavily smoky apartment. The cause of the disaster was quickly found in the kitchen - a pot had been left on the hob.
Apartment temporarily uninhabitable
The Floriani firefighters made the kitchen safe and opened the windows of the apartment. Due to the heavy smoke, the rooms were temporarily uninhabitable.
There was no material damage to or in the house. In addition to 20 men from the volunteer fire department, three rescue teams and two police patrols were deployed.
