New funding
New regulation for childminders is about to be finalized
From Monday, a new regulation will apply to childminders in Upper Austria. The state councillor responsible, Christine Haberlander, will present her proposal at the meeting of the state government. The associations can look forward to a new financing system.
There was great excitement among childminders last September: an amendment to the Child Education and Childcare Act restricted funding. Now a new regulation is to provide "more security and quality for the children", as Christine Haberlander (VP), Deputy Provincial Councillor for Education, emphasizes.
Topic in the state government
"Childminders are an important and complementary component to the institutional offer of kindergartens and crèches in Upper Austria. With the new regulation, we are ensuring that this remains the case in the future," says Christine Haberlander. This regulation is to be passed on Monday at the meeting of the state government.
The sponsoring organizations will be strengthened and even more quality will be ensured in childcare.

State contribution to be adjusted
In future, childminders will have to provide outdoor play areas for the children. In addition, childminders will have to demonstrate first aid skills and complete a mandatory child emergency course. In return, the state contribution to the clubs will be adjusted - in other words, there will be more money. The planned change to the funding system should also enable clubs to plan better.
