British musician Lily Allen (38) spoke openly in a podcast interview about the influence of her children on her career. Allen, known for hits such as "Smile" and "The Fear", said that although her two daughters were her everything, they had "completely destroyed" her pop star career.

Speaking to the Radio Times podcast, Allen jokingly emphasized: "Yes, my children have ruined my career." She added: "I love them and they make me happy, but in terms of pop star fame, they've ruined everything."

The mother of two went on to explain that she had made a conscious decision not to constantly focus on her career. The decisive factor for this was her own experience with her own parents, whom she found "quite absent" as a child.

You can't have everything
Allen said: "It really annoys me when people say you can have it all. Honestly, you can't." She emphasized that although some people put their career before their children, she herself did not want to put her daughters through that experience.

After her rapid rise to fame in 2006 with the number one single "Smile", Allen gradually withdrew from the music scene. Her last studio album was released in 2014, followed by another project in 2018. She was last in the headlines in 2020 with her wedding to actor David Harbour.

In addition to music, Allen has increasingly devoted herself to acting in recent years. She even received an Olivier Award nomination in 2022 for her role in the West End play "2:22 A Ghost Story".
