At around 9.44 pm, an apartment in an apartment building in Völs caught fire. When the fire department arrived, meter-high flames were already shooting out of the window and threatening to spread to the apartment above.
The heat had already broken the window panes of the upper apartment. Using breathing apparatus, the firefighters were able to enter the apartment and fight the fire. "The owners were not at home when the fire broke out. After first aid, three people had to be taken to the hospital in Hall by the ambulance service," said the investigators.
The apartment owners were not at home at the time the fire broke out.

People evacuated
A total of 24 people had to be evacuated from the danger zone during the operation. The operation lasted a good three hours. "The neighbors made a great effort to leave the house," said fire department commander Herbert Strickner, praising their willingness to cooperate. This allowed the firefighters to quickly start fighting the fire.
The apartment was completely destroyed by the fire. "More or less only the apartment on fire was affected. It was a total loss. There was a small amount of water damage in the apartment below. But for what it was, it all ended well," explains Strickner. The amount of damage is not yet known. The cause of the fire is also still unclear. The Völs volunteer fire department and the Innsbruck professional fire department were deployed with 50 firefighters.
