The southern part of Marktstraße, from the pedestrian zone to Adolf-Rhomberg-Straße, will have a new look from the fall.

Dornbirn's Marktstraße, more precisely from the pedestrian zone to Adolf-Rhomberg-Straße, will become a pedestrian zone - starting this fall. In addition, the section where cars are still allowed to drive will be converted into a one-way street. "The traffic calming will make the street more attractive for both residents and businesses," explains Mayor Andrea Kaufmann.

Green islands planned
"With this measure, which we recently presented to local residents and businesses, we want to bring more quality of life and quality of stay to the city," adds Deputy Mayor Julian Fässler, who is responsible for urban planning. There are also plans for more trees, "green islands", planters and seating. Kaufmann does not want to rule out the possibility that the pedestrian zone there could also be extended in the medium term. This would completely ban cars - with a few exceptions.
