Traffic jam chaos on Schönbrunner Schloßstraße in Vienna: numerous Last Generation activists gathered there on Tuesday morning to paralyze morning traffic. The Chancellor's climate policy was illustrated by the climate stickers with a pile of dung. Anyone on their way to the office had to wait.

After the activists of the Last Generation had already returned to Vienna's streets on Monday, the sunny weather also gave the group the opportunity to paralyze morning traffic on Tuesday. This time, the focus was on the traffic directly in front of Schönbrunn Palace.

Dung heap to illustrate climate policy
A huge pile of dung was placed on the road by the activists. According to the Last Generation, this was intended to illustrate the political legacy of the federal government. "Despite degrading treatment in police custody yesterday, the determined citizens were not deterred. They demanded the implementation of the first recommendation of the National Climate Council: a fundamental right to climate protection in the constitution," the climate group announced in a press release.

In the dung heap, which stank in the middle of the street, was a small sign with the inscription: "Nehammer's climate policy" (see photo).

Nurse goes to protest for her daughter
38-year-old nurse Lena Hoffmann also took part in the protest on Tuesday. She demonstrated for her ten-year-old daughter, who asked her how she will be able to live later if it gets hotter and hotter: "I couldn't give her an answer. From that point on, I started thinking, why is the government disregarding my children's rights? When will our children pay for the government's bad decisions and our inaction? I'm not doing this because I want to annoy anyone or I'm not working and have too much free time. I'm doing this out of desperation for the dearest thing I have."

Data analyst Florian Pennetzdorfer also took part in the rally and addressed Chancellor Nehammer directly: "In your Austria plan, you promise 'climate protection with common sense', but where is the common sense if you ignore the alarm of science and temperature records that can be felt by everyone?"

The Vienna police were able to disperse the blockade in Hietzing in front of the palace shortly afterwards.

It was only on Monday that the Last Generation took to Vienna's streets and paralyzed traffic in Favoriten. The group had previously taken a longer break.
