"The USA responds"
Missile war in the Middle East
The US, the UK and their allies are launching massive airstrikes on Iran-backed militia positions in Yemen, Iraq and Syria (see video above).
In the past few nights alone, US and UK fighter jets and even American-based long-range B1 bombers have flown more than 130 strikes against targets held by Iran-backed militias in Yemen, Iraq and Syria. In addition, US warships fired cruise missiles at military installations, such as those of the Houthi militia in Yemen.
And the Americans declare that the air strikes are "just the beginning". White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that the strikes were "not the end of our response, and there will be further steps - some visible, some perhaps invisible. The US wanted to send a clear message: "The US will respond if we are attacked and our people are killed."
Cooperation in the past
Sullivan was referring to a drone attack on a US base in Jordan, in which three US soldiers were killed, as well as numerous other attacks on US forces' positions in the northern Kurdish region in Syria and also in Iraq. These attacks are always carried out by militias allied with Iran, some of which have also cooperated with the USA in the past - for example in the fight against the Islamic State.
The trigger for the current rocket war in the Middle East is the Gaza war, which was started by the Palestinian Hamas with its terrorist attack on Israel. The militias, which like Hamas are supported by Iran, are backing Hamas and opposing Israel with their attacks.
