Comeback in Carinthia with four events at Lake Wörthersee

Beach boy Hannes Jagerhofer is returning to Carinthia to stage the multisport series at four venues from July 22 to 27. Beach volleyball and water skiing will take place in Pörtschach, climbing and wakeboarding in Velden. From 2026 it will become a world series, starting in Barcelona!

On Wednesday, Jagerhofer presented his return to Carinthia with the extraordinary multisport series project at Badehaus Werzers. As is well known, Carinthia is located on Lake Wörthersee - and it was precisely the turquoise that was missing from the beach volleyball tournaments in Vienna. During his comeback, he is represented at four competition venues. "The Prymidenkogel, the turquoise flower island, the Schlosshotel Velden and Maria Wörth are unique locations and make you want more," says Jagerhofer.

The time pressure is on, because 2025 is a year without a major sporting event. "This will be our year." In beach volleyball, water skiing, climbing and wakeboarding, only European Championships or World Cups will be held.

No beach volleyball in Klagenfurt
Jagerhofer will not be returning to Klagenfurt; the European Beach Volleyball Championships for teams will take place in the Werzer Arena in Pörtschach. "Water skiing also consists of three disciplines: slalom, trick skiing and jumping. My daughter practices the sport. Pörtschach offers first-class conditions."

The event guru goes to Velden for wakeboarding and climbing. Jagerhofer has his sights set on many more sports: BWX, mountain biking and break-dancing. The budget for the multisport series is 6.2 million euros, with the beach volleyball sponsors helping out. "I don't see any public money in 2025," says Jagerhofer.

From 2026, he wants to turn the program with different sports into a world series. "We're starting in Barcelona, I've just been there to see the mayor." He also has his sights set on Saudi Arabia, Poreč, Fort Lauderdale (USA) and Canada. 

The whole thing is a multi-year project. "I was at the Olympic Games in Paris and was absolutely thrilled. Spectators like events with lots of different sports." Jagerhofer could organize a skateboarding championship in Klagenfurt one day, but the facility would have to be expanded by 1.6 million euros. In principle, the sports should be able to be practiced all year round at the respective venues. "We are already organizing the 30th beach volleyball tournament. That's amazing," says Jagerhofer. Now the Feldkirchner is finally back in Carinthia with his events.
