Focus operation: small truck was extremely overloaded

During a priority check on the A12 near Radfeld (Tyrolean district of Kufstein), the Tyrolean traffic police took a close look at around 50 vans on Friday night. While the officers found several violations, one small truck stood out in particular.

The ten officers from the Tyrol Provincial Traffic Department checked a total of around 50 vans for technical defects at the Radfeld checkpoint on Friday night. Such defects were discovered in six cases, and the officers found seven vehicles to be overloaded. They had to be unloaded or reloaded.

12,050 kilos instead of the permitted 6,200 kilos
One van from Switzerland, which actually has a maximum permissible total weight of 3500 kilos, stood out in particular. Instead, the vehicle was 70 percent overloaded, weighing 5950 kilos. And that's not all: the trailer it was carrying was approved for 2700 kilos, but instead weighed 6100 kilos - an overload of 125 percent.

Prohibited from continuing the journey, charges to follow
The driver of the van had also massively exceeded the trailer load. He was banned from continuing his journey. He and the other drivers who were found to have deficiencies will be reported to the district authority.
