Weiden am See: Thief attacked police officers

A 38-year-old man who was caught in Weiden am See after stealing from a farm store there behaved extremely aggressively. He resisted arrest and threatened with his fists.

The Polish citizen had stolen products twice from the local self-service store on Monday without paying. However, the acts were probably filmed by a surveillance camera.

Store owner injured
When the owner of the store was out and about in the local area the following day, he recognized the 38-year-old and confronted him. The Pole then hit the 40-year-old with his fist. A scuffle ensued in which the shopkeeper was injured in the face and head. The 38-year-old then fled the scene.

Man behaved aggressively
However, he did not get very far. He was apprehended shortly afterwards by the police district criminal investigation department. However, the man also behaved very aggressively towards the officers. He resisted arrest and tried to attack the officers with his fists. In the end, however, the uniformed officers managed to overpower the raving man and arrest him. The Polish man will be sent to Eisenstadt prison after the investigations have been completed.
