Double disaster: two serious accidents on the LB 54

On Saturday afternoon, the LB 54 near Pischelsdorf and near Kaindorf bei Hartberg became the road of misfortune. Two serious traffic accidents occurred here within the space of a few hours. First, two people on a motorcycle crashed, then a 69-year-old pedestrian was hit by a car. The rescue helicopter had to be called out twice.

It was around 3.30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon when a 54-year-old man and his 59-year-old wife were riding a motorcycle on the LB 54 towards Kaindorf. But suddenly things got dicey: the rider overlooked a car that had stopped in front of him - he tried to brake abruptly and crashed.

Injuries to leg and hip
The couple crashed into the rear of the car. The 54-year-old suffered serious injuries to his leg, while his passenger suffered undetermined injuries to her hip. The ambulance and Christophorus 16 helicopter rushed to the scene immediately. Both were taken to Oberwart Regional Hospital.

69-year-old hit by car
Just two and a half hours later, there was another crash on the same road near Pischelsdorf. A 69-year-old female pedestrian wanted to cross the road - two female moped drivers stopped for her. However, a 28-year-old driver from Romania started an overtaking maneuver and hit the 69-year-old. She suffered such serious injuries that she was unresponsive at the scene. The rescue helicopter had to be called out again.
