“Live in Salzburg”: it gets loud in the castle

Many venues, even more bands: the "Live in Salzburg" festival brings music back to the old town - and all for free. . . 

"Now the weather just has to play along." Michael Mörth's anticipation is palpable. Salzburg's musical jack-of-all-trades has created the "Live in Salzburg" music festival in just a few months. The musician is the curator and the city sponsors the whole thing with 280,000 euros. "But the budget is gone faster than you might think," says Mörth with a grin.

Waiting for the surprise guest
No wonder! This summer's "Live in Salzburg" can boast well-known artists such as the Steaming Satellites, Thorsteinn Einarsson and AVEC. There will also be a "surprise guest". "A big name, but we can't reveal any more yet," says Mörth.

Music in the university amphitheater
Not a surprise, but all the more unusual are the festival's venues. On June 28, there will be an electro clubbing event in the courtyard of Mirabell Palace. There will also be concerts in the Kurgarten, in Hans-Donnersberg-Park, at the Nonntal university campus and in the amphitheater of Paris Lodron University. Mörth: "That's my insider tip. This is only the second time this location has ever been played."

On two weekends (August 30/31 and September 6/7), the Volksgarten will become a festival site - including three stages. Mörth himself will also be making his grand entrance as rapper "Mace".
