Two sports cars confiscated from drug dealer
He lived the high life, rented two apartments and drove two high-priced sports cars. But now a 45-year-old Romanian has to breathe sifted air, he has been arrested and is in custody. The reason: the man had been involved in drug trafficking in Wels and Bad Ischl.
It was the Romanian authorities who tipped off our police that a 45-year-old Romanian was allegedly running a lively cocaine trade together with a 48-year-old accomplice. Police officers from Bad Ischl and officers from the Upper Austrian State Office of Criminal Investigation finally discovered two conspiratorially rented apartments. In addition, a 30-year-old Romanian sub-distributor was identified.
Coke found in apartment
On February 22, in addition to around one kilogram of cocaine, various extenders, packaging materials and cash, counterfeit domestic and foreign driving licenses and ID cards, including counterfeit equipment, were seized in one of the suspects' apartments. The 45-year-old and the 30-year-old were arrested and have since been remanded in custody. By order of the public prosecutor's office in Wels, the two high-priced sports cars of the 45-year-old main accused, who had two other false identities, were seized.
False driving licenses sold
According to current investigations, the 45-year-old and the 48-year-old are strongly suspected of importing cocaine from Italy and the Netherlands to Upper Austria since 2021 and reselling at least two kilograms of cocaine to at least 15 customers here. The two are also accused of producing and reselling counterfeit driving licenses for at least 24 persons known by name. The 48-year-old accused is still on the run.
