Policeman injured
Man urinated in a public parking lot
Late on Wednesday evening, a plainclothes patrol was at a parking lot of a fast food chain in Klagenfurt and saw a car driver, a 50-year-old man from Völkermarkt, turn into the parking lot, get out of the vehicle and urinate in the bushes there.
When he got back into his vehicle, the patrol asked him several times to carry out a driver and vehicle check. The man did not comply and suddenly put the vehicle into reverse and began to roll backwards.
Police officer almost pushed down
A police officer was in the area between the open driver's door and the vehicle at the time. The police officer was almost knocked down by the driver's door due to the vehicle reversing. The car only came to a halt when it hit the car parked behind it.
Officer injured in the incident
The two police officers immediately tried to stop the car by switching off the engine. However, they were actively pushed out of the vehicle by the 50-year-old. One of the officers was injured to an indeterminate degree.
50-year-old fled the scene
The 50-year-old then managed to flee. The plainclothes patrol immediately took up the pursuit. The man was stopped shortly afterwards by a patrol from the Klagenfurt municipal police department following a radio search.
The man was arrested and taken to the Klagenfurt police detention center. The driver refused to take a breathalyzer test. He will be charged several times.
