Another step towards the hoped-for new start
Now the mood is tingling! While the new owners of the bottling company are still being discussed, the revitalization of the mineral water source is imminent - exploratory drilling included.
The history of the mineral water bottler Güssinger, based in Sulz, is one chapter richer. The long-established company slipped into insolvency in 2019, and a restructuring process failed in 2020.
Then the turnaround last year: After the entire inventory had been auctioned off, private international investors stepped in and bought the property, including the fountain. Hopes for a new start are higher than ever. However, the consortium, which continues to operate quietly, has now applied for a water law permit for remediation measures to revitalize the "Güssinger" mineral water deposit.

New wells are to be developed
The measures essentially comprise the sealing of existing well systems, the drilling of exploratory wells, the drilling of new replacement wells and well tests and pumping tests to determine the yield of the new replacement wells. According to Michael Gerbavsits, Managing Director of the Burgenland Business Agency, "this is another important step in the approval process. Once the overall project is complete, the new owners will also take the step of going public." An inventory was already completed in February.
Politicians hope for a quick restart and new jobs
According to Gerbavsits, there is no concrete timetable for when mineral water can be bottled again in Sulz. It is a complex process to restart a company and this takes time. In the meantime, after many years of turmoil for the company, local politicians are also hoping for a quick restart.
"This is about good jobs for the entire Zickental valley and also about the gastronomy sector being able to benefit from it again in the future."

The basis for talks with the investors is still very good, confirms Mayor Roman Jandrisevits. The municipality is on hand with help and advice and is supporting the consortium in all matters relating to the revitalization of the brand. "This is about good jobs for the entire Zickental valley and also about ensuring that the hospitality industry can benefit from it again in the future," says Jandrisevits.
