Pedaling instead of sticking
Schoolboy cycles 150 kilometers for species conservation
Next Saturday, 14-year-old pupil Leon Paasch wants to cycle around Lake Constance and draw attention to the extinction of species.
As part of a school project at the Freie Schule Lindau, Leon Paasch wants to raise awareness for the preservation of biodiversity and find supporters. He wants to pedal 150 kilometers in one day and raise money for the "Flower Kids" project of the Lake Constance Foundation.
"My hobby is mountain biking. So I thought, why not ride my bike around Lake Constance and raise money for every kilometer," explains Leon.
Stop at the Festspielhaus
He plans to start his tour at 6.30 am on Saturday. There will be a short stop in front of the Bregenz Festival Hall at around 6.50 am. Anyone interested is invited to accompany the 14-year-old on his way to Constance. "My aim is to get as many people as possible excited about the idea and encourage them to do something for the environment and climate protection with their own actions," explains the youngster.
Mayor Ritsch on site
From Constance, he takes the ferry via Meersburg back to Lindau, where not only Mayor Claudia Alfons but also the Mayor of Bregenz, Michael Ritsch, want to welcome the student.
