Positive response from commuters to rail expansion

In Burgenland, almost 100,000 of the 133,000 people in employment have their workplace outside their place of residence. The reactions to the announced modernization and expansion of the Mattersburg railroad are correspondingly positive. There is criticism of the "blockade" of the Ebenfurth loop.

Specifically, according to ÖBB's plans, the Loipersbach-Schattendorf, Marz-Rohrbach, Mattersburg Nord, Bad Sauerbrunn and Neudörfl stations will be completely renovated as part of the modernization of the Mattersburg line.

No changing trains
"The annoying change in Wiener Neustadt in the morning hours for commuters in the direction of Vienna will then be a thing of the past," say SPÖ district chairman Thomas Hoffmann and the commuter spokesman for the Mattersburg district, Kurt Fischer.

Criticism and appeal
Hoffmann and Fischer strongly criticize the objection of a citizens' initiative to the construction of the Ebenfurth loop. "This loop would save rail commuters on the Deutschkreutz line via Baumgarten, Schattendorf, Draßburg, Wulkaprodersdorf, Müllendorf and Neufeld in the direction of Vienna 15 minutes per journey. That adds up to 30 minutes per day, which means more quality of life," the two emphasize in unison.

Both appeal "to common sense and understanding for the needs of commuters". They ask the citizens' initiative to reconsider their criticism and allow the Ebenfurth loop to be built.
