Wild scenes took place on Friday morning in the district of Mödling. A duo resisted a stop and sped away from the police. The chase ended with an accident and three injured officers.

A supposedly routine check turned into a wild chase in Perchtoldsdorf. The officers had noticed an older, dilapidated vehicle and wanted to stop its driver. But the driver didn't think about it. On the contrary: he accelerated. At far too high a speed and through red lights, the man sped into the neighboring town of Brunn am Gebirge, where the police were about to position themselves to stop the car.

Turbulent arrest
For as yet unexplained reasons, the getaway car and the patrol car collided. One police officer was injured, another had to brake hard behind and was also injured while trying to avoid hitting the vehicles in front of him. As if that wasn't enough, one of the two occupants became violent during the arrest attempt and injured a third officer.

In the end, however, it was possible to handcuff the duo. Why the two men, who are not Austrian citizens, evaded arrest in the legally registered car is still under investigation.
