The biggest game in the club's recent history! That's what the Wörthersee Pirates have in store for them on Saturday (17) in the all-important third match of the semi-final series at home against the Deutsch Wagram Alligators. For the first time, the Klagenfurt team - who were in the Bundesliga at the time - could make it to the final of the 2nd Basketball League.
The "Krone" let the Pirates practice at the Happ reptile zoo! Where they got all the tips they needed for Saturday's emergency from boss Helga Happ - after all, the alligators are to be tamed again today! Just like in game one, when the Pirates beat Deutsch Wagram 77:75 thanks to Shawn Ray's exemplary last-minute stroke of genius from coach Andreas Kuttnig. "To win, we need maximum commitment and full focus again this time," emphasized Kuttnig.
Fuss over Nuck suspension
Meanwhile, a ruling by the criminal senate is causing trouble. Andreas Nuck was suspended the previous week after hitting an opponent in the face with his elbow during a scuffle. He has now also been suspended for today's match. "The exclusion was a joke. The suspension is a cheek. Maybe the league just wants a Lower Austrian derby in the final," raged Kuttnig.
Good news from Marcus Holyfield. After his trip home, the US boy is back on board. He can look forward to a full hall with around 500 spectators. A special fan bus will be arriving from Deutsch-Wagram with around 50 supporters.
