A young Tyrolean woman has an autism spectrum disorder. Nevertheless, she wants to gain a foothold in the world of work and is giving it her all. Perhaps on World Autism Awareness Day, which is celebrated today, Tuesday, there will be an entrepreneur who wants to give her a chance?

In an ever-changing world, people with autism spectrum disorder face many challenges - especially when it comes to finding a job. Autism is a developmental disorder that affects the way a person interacts with others and processes information. Affected individuals may have difficulty understanding social cues. And they often have special interests and behaviors.

135 young people take part
One of them is 18-year-old Lara from Tyrol. She has a clear goal: To contribute her talents and skills to the world of work. For this reason, she - like 135 other young people - is currently attending job training in Innsbruck. This is offered by "AufBauWerk", a social service provider for young people with support needs in Tyrol.

"Unfortunately, finding a job for people like me is not easy. It requires a high degree of sensitivity and understanding on the part of the employer," explains Lara, adding: "I need a supportive environment that promotes strengths and takes my special needs into account."

Specially adapted training measures
To ensure that her wish to gain a foothold in the world of work actually comes true, she is taking her current participation in job training very seriously and is fully committed to it. There, she is being prepared for the numerous demands of working life through specially adapted training measures and individual support.

People with autism bring advantages for companies
Companies that are open to this issue benefit from people with autism - from their perspectives and talents. And they promote an inclusive working environment.

By the way: Today, Tuesday, is World Autism Awareness Day. This aims to raise awareness of autism and break down prejudices. How nice it would be if someone set an example and gave Lara a chance! Contact: www.aufbauwerk.com
