This is the new record man in the Carinthian League
There is a new record man in the Carinthian League! In his 381st league game on Maundy Thursday, the player from Lavanttal in the service of ATSV Wolfsberg became the match winner against Kraig. .
Marble, stone and iron break, but not our Stoni!" That's what ATSV Wolfsberg thought. Because Marcel Stoni played his 380th match in the Carinthian league in the 5:2 win in St. Jakob/R.. The 34-year-old Wolfsberger thus drew level with the leader Roland Krenn (moved from Maria Saal to Grafenstein in 2022!) in the "Eternal League Match List".
Since yesterday's home game against Kraig on Maundy Thursday, the striker has been the sole leader. "I'm proud to have played so many games at this level. I'm grateful to the club for that."
Perpetual Carinthian League appearances list
- Marcel Stoni (ATSV Wolfsberg) 381 games
- Roland Krenn (currently Grafenstein/ULO) 380
- Christopher Knauder (St. Michael/Bl./ULO) 376
- Christopher Sallinger (Köttmannsdorf) 361
- Christian Kautz (Lendorf) 351
Match winner against Kraig
And he showed it! In his 381st match in the Carinthian league, Stoni was the match winner against Kraig. He set up Mario Müller's 1:0 lead and made the final score 2:1 after Kothmaier's own goal. The club now has five wins in a row - a record! No other team has been able to celebrate more wins in a row this season.
Stoni should stay with ATSV
The laboratory technician has been playing for ATSV Wolfsberg since 2011, his highlight with the club in 2019 was the championship title and victory in the KFV Cup - and Marcel is sure to stay with ATSV for a few more years. "We have three experienced players in Stoni, Pfennich and Hafner. Stoni is an absolute role model and we will certainly extend his contract," says boss Otto Wegscheider.
