Spa guest (57) bitten several times by “Amstaff”
Yet another dog attack in Upper Austria: two four-legged friends charged at a 56-year-old rehab patient on Tuesday, at least one of the two animals bit him several times on the arm, thigh and buttocks. The dog's owner is believed to be abroad at the moment.
The attack happened during a hike with a group from the rehabilitation center, in which the 56-year-old - from St. Pölten, but currently in rehab in Upper Austria - was participating. As the patient walked past the campsite in Bad Schallerbach, two dogs ran towards him from a caravan through the hedge. At least one of them was an "Amstaff", i.e. an American Staffordshire Terrier - the breed responsible for the fatal dog attack in Naarn last October.
Dogs locked in caravan
According to the police, the "Amstaff" bit the 56-year-old in the left forearm, thigh and buttocks. The caravan owner, who was in charge of the four-legged friends, then managed to drag the dog away from the injured man and lock both animals in the caravan.
According to "Krone" information, however, the two four-legged friends belong to someone who is probably currently abroad: the son of the caravan owner's wife.
Charges filed for negligent bodily harm
The victim of the attack received initial medical treatment at the rehabilitation center. Charges of negligent bodily harm have been filed with the public prosecutor's office. The investigation is ongoing.
