National Councillor Einwallner runs for the state parliament

Bregenz Social Democrat to support party leader Mario Leiter in the provincial parliament after the elections in the fall. It will be announced in the next few days who will be the top candidate on the SPÖ list for the National Council elections, which will also take place in the fall.

Reinhold Einwallner from Bregenz did not want to become leader of the SPÖ. After all, he was also answerable to his business partner and should concentrate more on his optician business, he had always argued. A suitable successor has now been found in Mario Leiter, who is gradually building up his team.

With National Councillor Reinhold Einwallner, who was already a member of the Federal Council (2004-2009), a member of the provincial parliament (2014-2017) and also provincial managing director (2010-2017), Leiter has the luxury of a "miracle wizard" who can be deployed flexibly. And he wants to have him at his side in the state parliament in future. "I am convinced that Reinhold Einwallner, with his extensive experience in the areas of security, control, finance and economics, will be a significant boost for the SPÖ Vorarlberg team," said Leiter, who is likely to enter the state parliament as the SPÖ's top candidate.

With his work on the investigation committees at federal level, Einwallner has made a significant contribution to clearing up the numerous scandals involving the ÖVP and FPÖ in recent years. "Unfortunately, these scandals have now also reached us in the province, which is why a professional investigator like him will now unfortunately also have his hands full in the provincial parliament," the party leader alluded to the recent events surrounding Hypo Vorarlberg.

It is not yet clear who will succeed Einwallner as National Councillor. According to reports, there is a preferred candidate and - despite a thin pool of personnel - there are a number of people interested in this task.
