RAF terrorists could still be around Berlin

The former RAF terrorists Ernst-Volker Staub and Burkhard Garweg could still be in Berlin or in the area surrounding the German capital. The police have now published new mugshots of them.

The pictures, which appear to be private and were taken between 2021 and 2024, most likely show Garweg. In the most recent picture, the former RAF terrorist is sitting between two dogs on a sofa and eating. It is not yet clear whether the dogs are Garweg's pets, the State Criminal Police Office of Lower Saxony announced in Hanover on Saturday.

Contact with burdock?
Garweg may have had contact with the former RAF terrorist Daniela Klette. Klette was reportedly arrested in Berlin on Monday. The State Criminal Police Office did not reveal whether the photos were found during the search of her apartment.

Ernst-Volker Staub (69) and Burkhard Garweg (55) are at the top of Europol's "Europe's Most Wanted List". This means that serious criminals and terrorists are wanted. The German Federal Criminal Police Office had already asked the public to help in the search for the two men on Friday. However, they could be armed, which is why the State Criminal Police Office of Lower Saxony advises against approaching the wanted men yourself.
