Counterattack against Karner
Sex worker: “Controls are useless!”
In an interview with the "Krone" newspaper, sex worker Sissi is annoyed by the measures announced on Thursday by Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (ÖVP) following the shocking triple murder of prostitutes in Vienna. He wants to carry out priority checks in the red-light district.
Security gates and stricter brothel controls are "a completely wrong approach", says sex worker Sissi in an interview with the "Krone" newspaper. There are many problems in the scene that should be tackled, but "you can only achieve something in this area if you talk to the advice centres, self-organizations or people who work in sex work beforehand in order to be able to introduce any improvements at all".
The three (note: murdered prostitutes) leave behind children and families.

"Survivor torments herself with self-reproach"
The almost 60-year-old is deeply affected by the terrible murders of three young Asian women last week and even knew one of them. "The three of them left behind children and families." The woman who barricaded herself in her room in fear of her life during the bloodbath will certainly never work in sex work again in Sissi's estimation. The survivor torments herself with self-reproach. "I know that it will probably be difficult for her to get a new job in Austria," Sissi continues.
If you ask the sex worker about the "customer" or "client" responsible for the bloody deed, she says: "I don't call him a customer at all, because people who commit violence in brothels are first and foremost murderers and not clients."
Clients "have become dumber"
In her 30 years of experience in the scene, she has noticed that, on the whole, clients have not become more brutal, but "dumber, like the rest of society".
