Big sigh of relief
Föderl-Schmid found alive under bridge!
Big sigh of relief in missing persons case! A police officer recently found journalist Alexandra Föderl-Schmid - severely hypothermic near Braunau (Upper Austria) on the border with Germany. She was reportedly responsive.
The well-known Upper Austrian journalist, who was being searched for on Thursday as part of a large-scale operation in the border area around Braunau, was discovered outdoors by an Austrian police officer at around 11 a.m., according to information from the "Krone" newspaper.
The Red Cross was alerted immediately. The 53-year-old woman from Mühlviertel was severely hypothermic but responsive and was immediately taken to the shock room at Braunau Hospital.
Major search operation
As reported, more than 100 helpers from the fire department and police spent almost 24 hours searching for the deputy editor-in-chief of the "Süddeutsche Zeitung" and former editor-in-chief of the "Standard" newspaper in the Braunau district. She had spoken to her brother on the phone early on Thursday morning and had since disappeared.
Public accusations had emerged in the run-up to the dramatic missing person case. "Plagiarism hunter" Stefan Weber criticized Föderl-Schmid's doctoral thesis. Her journalistic work should also be comprehensively reviewed, it was reported at the beginning of the week.
