Donated stem cells can save the lives of leukemia patients. The fate of affected children is heartbreaking. 

There are situations and diseases in which the availability of a suitable stem cell donor can be life-saving. Every year, more than 300 patients in Austria, mainly those suffering from leukemia, are dependent on the donation of suitable stem cells.

However, there are still no genetic twins in the databases for around 10 percent of patients. Typing continues for them. The "Geben für Leben" association is currently looking for a suitable donor for little Pia from Oberwart, among others. Several typing campaigns are being considered.

How you can still help

If you don't want to donate stem cells but want to donate money, you can help too! The association has to pay for each typing (40 euros per laboratory analysis).

There will be a campaign on Friday from 4 to 8 pm in the Pinkafeld fire station, on Sunday from 2 to 6 pm in the Kohfidisch parish church, on December 9 from 9 am to 12 pm in the gym of the Burgenland state police headquarters and on December 10 from 10 am to 12 pm in the OSG in Oberwart.
