40-year-old fell from a height of five meters

A serious accident occurred on Thursday evening in the climbing hall at Egg secondary school: a 40-year-old man fell from a height of around five meters and injured his pelvis.

The 40-year-old had visited the climbing hall together with his five-year-old son. The cause of the accident was a mixture of exuberance and carelessness: the man had climbed up the wall (difficulty level up to 8-) alone and unsecured. According to the police, he had simply forgotten to tie himself into the so-called toppas, which are self-belay devices.

The consequences were fatal: at a height of around five meters, he lost his grip and fell backwards onto the ground, where he came to rest with injuries to his pelvis. After receiving first aid on site, he was taken to hospital.
