“Makes no sense”: Becker rages after Nadal’s exit

Rafael Nadal had to bow out of the French Open after just one round. The 14-time Paris winner lost 3:6, 6:7(5) and 3:6 to the German Alexander Zverev on Monday. Boris Becker cannot explain why the Spaniard had to play the number four in the ATP world rankings of all people.

"Normal common sense can't comprehend it," the tennis legend scolded on "Eurosport". As Nadal had not played any matches for a long time due to his injury, he had to compete against a seeded player from ATP rank 275.

"Totally crazy"
Unfair, as Becker thinks ... "That's the rules, but rules don't always necessarily make sense. An exception should have been made for Nadal, but everyone is equal before the rule. Personally, I would have seeded Nadal in Paris this year," the 56-year-old clarified. "It just doesn't make sense that someone who has won the tournament 14 times is not seeded. For me, that's totally crazy."

It was probably the last dance at the French Open for the 22-time Grand Slam winner, Nadal will probably end his career after the Olympic Games.
