At the first attempt
License is here! Sigh of relief at Wiener Austria
A sigh of relief at Wiener Austria: For the first time since 2021, the "Veilchen" have received their license at the first attempt - with the requirement of regular financial reporting.
Despite the still tense situation, Wiener Austria was able to avoid detention for the license certificate this year. In the past few weeks, club boss Kurt Gollowitzer alone had always been positive that the club would be able to obtain the license for the coming season at the first attempt.
Patrons and investors have had to step in once again in the recent past. In order to remain solvent, funds amounting to several million euros were again injected this season - as was the case last year.
Stadium sale planned
The sale of the home arena should provide a real remedy. The venue at the Verteilerkreis costs Austria (too) much money to run due to the high interest rates. The sale is now planned for the end of the second quarter - i.e. the end of June. With the proceeds in the region of the targeted 40 million euros, a debt cut with the largest lender, Bank Austria, is to take place. Austria could then look to the future again financially.
LASK was denied a license
With the exception of LASK, all first division clubs were granted a license for the Bundesliga in the first instance. At LASK, concerns were apparently raised due to the recent change of coach. Linz did not feel guilty of any misconduct and announced a protest.
