Man attacked wife and shot himself in the head
Horrific scenes are likely to have taken place in a house in Navis (Innsbruck-Land district) on Wednesday night. A 49-year-old man initially attacked his partner (48) after an argument. When she called the police, he threatened to take his own life.
The dramatic incident was probably triggered by an argument between the man (49) and his partner (48) in their home in Navis shortly after 11 pm. The man is believed to have threatened the woman and seriously injured her by attacking her neck. The 49-year-old managed to escape and informed the police.
Police found the suspect
Several police patrols, the Rapid Intervention Group (SIG), the EKO-Cobra and officers from the negotiation group found the suspect on the roof terrace a short time later. He threatened to take his own life.
The seriously injured man was first treated at the scene and then taken to Innsbruck Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

At around 00:40, the officers deployed a Taser - a so-called electro-pulse weapon - but apparently too late. He seriously injured himself with a shotgun. "The seriously injured man was first treated at the scene and then taken to Innsbruck Hospital with life-threatening injuries," said the police.
Woman also in hospital, investigation ongoing
The man's partner was also taken to the district hospital in Hall with serious injuries and admitted as an inpatient. Further investigations are being conducted by the Tyrolean State Office of Criminal Investigation and the Investigation and Complaints Office for Allegations of Abuse of Coercive Means of the Federal Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAK). For "data protection reasons", the police did not want to give any details about the man's origin.
