With 300 emergency services
Major alarm in Lungau! Rescuers rehearse the emergency
Major alarm in Lungau after an accident on the tracks of the Murtalbahn - at least in theory! Almost 300 emergency services are deployed at the weekend to practice for an emergency.
Heavy rain, flooding and then this: a train crashes on the track of the Murtalbahn between Tamsweg and Ramingstein. Dozens of passengers are injured, some of them seriously. Due to the adverse weather conditions, there is a widespread power failure. The digital radio of the emergency services is no longer working.
It is a horror scenario that those responsible for the large-scale exercise "Samson 2024" have come up with. More than 300 emergency services are heading to Lungau next Saturday - to rehearse an emergency. All emergency organizations are required to work closely together to deal with this major accident under the difficult conditions. Together, the blue light organizations secure the scene of the accident and begin rescuing the injured. Drones and search dogs are also used during the exercise. Tamsweg hospital takes part in "Samson 2024". The emergency services set up a victim information center in the Tamsweg fire station for training purposes. The Red Cross crisis intervention team will be on site. The district administration will be in charge of the official operations. "The exercise will be challenging for everyone involved," says District Governor Michaela Rohrmoser.
