Six alpinists fall 50 meters during tour
A serious recreational accident on the Zuckerhütl in the Tyrolean Stubai Valley on Saturday! In the course of a fall, a mountaineer dragged five other alpinists with him. The people came to rest after 50 meters. The result: a duo from Italy had to be rescued by two helicopters. Three locals had a stroke of luck.
The accident happened at around 11 am. At the time, several climbers were in the summit area of the Zuckerhütl. "Around 50 meters below the summit, a previously unknown mountaineer suddenly started to slip in the snow-covered gully, which was up to 50 degrees steep in places, and fell," the police said. As a result, three local and two Italian mountaineers were swept away.
The three local mountaineers were only slightly injured and continued their tour.
