Contract in St. Veit
“The WAC is welcome here, not in Klagenfurt”
The "Krone" story about the WAC's move to St. Veit made big waves. In any case, the municipalities and the state welcome the move by the WAC academy. But the regional sports director's demand is: the athletics track in Wolfsberg must not disappear completely!
The fact that Bundesliga club WAC could set up camp in St. Veit made waves after the "Krone" story. Martin Kulmer, mayor of the ducal town, is delighted about the signed three-year contract for the racecourse site - where the academy teams train: "If Alfred Riedl and Dietmar Riegler now also reach an agreement on the hotel 'Die Zeit', things could happen really quickly there too!"
"You would have to invest something"
Regarding the option of using the Jacques-Lemans-Arena as a replacement stadium (while the Lavanttal-Arena is being rebuilt) for Bundesliga games of the "Wolves", Kulmer says: "We would need 1000 lux instead of 400 lux for the floodlights, we would have to invest something. But the difference to Klagenfurt is that the WAC is welcome here!"
"We would have an arena in Klagenfurt..."
Regional sports director Arno Arthofer also welcomes the WAC's move: "An elegant, great solution!" However, he emphasizes: "We have an arena in Klagenfurt - the city must make Mr. Riegler an offer to play here temporarily!"
"Athletes need the running track"
However, Arthofer is concerned that the running track in the Lavanttal Arena is to be removed: "The athletes need it. It is also a federal sports facility. . ."
Wolfsberg's mayor Hannes Primus is already getting things moving: "We are looking at locations and alternatives to build a running track again!"
