New tenant wanted
The end after 50 years
Isabella Fröschl's parents once founded the popular Café Casagrande in Ottensheim. It will open for the last time on May 31 and the search for a successor is underway. In an interview with the "Krone" newspaper, the experienced landlady describes her reasons and ventures a look into the future.
"Many tears were shed during the decision phase, but it's time to go and it feels right - deep down in my heart": Isabella Fröschl will open the popular Café Casagrande in Ottensheim for the last time on 31 May. The café is located next to the Danube and is particularly popular with cyclists and walkers in the warmer months.
Founded 50 years ago
But this year, many will have to look for an alternative in the meantime, even if the landlady finds it anything but easy to say goodbye. No wonder, as her parents founded and built up the café exactly 50 years ago. Fröschl took over the family business and continued to run it, but now it will soon be over for good.
"Always had great employees"
"I'm in perfect health, always have been and will be until the last day," says the boss in an interview with the Krone. But what is the reason for the closure? "If you're no longer 100% committed, it's no longer possible to be self-employed. Catering is simply very labor-intensive," explains the landlady. But she also emphasizes that she has "always had great staff". Her delicious pastries, bread and cakes will still be available to buy at the Friday market in future. Fröschl will also continue to run the cake hotline for orders.
She is positive about her personal future: "I will simply accept the time available to me as a gift and see what may come. I'm looking forward to everything new."
There are already interested parties
And her beloved café should also continue to thrive: "It would be a shame if the beautiful guest garden were no longer in use. There are already one or two interested parties. I'm confident that things will soon improve for the café. A new generation is coming in now and everything will fall into place." There will be another joint closing day at Café Casagrande in mid-June.
