Murder in erotic studio
Neighbor: “Never forget the women’s screams”
In the knife rampage in an erotic studio in Vienna, one victim was able to hide and survived. An Afghan is in custody as a suspected triple murderer. A traumatized young mother reports that the screams of women rang through the night again and again.
Shahadat (26) lives with her husband and 3-year-old son above the erotic studio in the 20th district. The night on Saturday was a traumatic one for the heavily pregnant woman. Three women were slaughtered with a knife one floor below her. She will never forget their dramatic death throes.
Alleged perpetrator was in Vienna illegally
The perpetrator is said to be a 27-year-old asylum seeker from Afghanistan (in Austria since the end of November 2022), who was actually housed in a supervised accommodation facility in Carinthia and should not have been allowed to leave the province.
The victims were three women. Asian love servants, it was initially said. According to reports, however, the red light club operator could also be among the victims. However, due to the massive violence of the perpetrator, it is difficult to determine the identities with certainty.
Blood trail led into park
On Saturday afternoon, there was one small ray of hope in the whole tragedy: A woman had survived the knife rampage; she was able to lock herself in a room of the studio until the perpetrator, covered in blood, fled. But he didn't get far. Injured himself, he left a trail of blood behind him and tried to hide in the park opposite with the knife in his hand. Only a police taser stopped him.
But what drove the Afghan to commit this insane act? Was it offended honor as the last customer, was it simply religious hatred against women working in the red light district? The motive is unclear. The interrogations, which have not yet been completed, will bring it to light.
Neighbors want to move
Pregnant Shahadat doesn't want an explanation. She just wants to get out of this house. "I will never forget these women's screams." The screams and then the sudden silence.
