Curious trial
Deaf woman loses apartment because of sex noises
In Halle an der Saale, Germany, a duo kept a record of a neighbor's sex noises - now a judge has thrown the 37-year-old out of her apartment. But she defends herself: "I can't hear anything because of my disability!"
A curious case with our favorite neighbors in Germany: A deaf woman (37) was kicked out of her apartment in Halle in the state of Saxony-Anhalt in the first instance. Not because she owed the rent, but because her neighbors felt disturbed by the loud sex noises coming from her four walls.
As reported by "Bild", the specific case has the court designation "97 C 607/23" - the document states that two neighbors (37, 73) kept meticulous records of all visits by men where sex noises were said to have been made to the discredited neighbor. The duo sent these complaints to the responsible rental office of the Halle housing association. The company first responded with a warning to the tenant, followed by an "extraordinary termination due to sustained disturbance of domestic peace".
I don't have sex with every man who visits me. But when I do have sex, I can't hear how loud it is because of my disability. But that's none of my neighbors' business either.

Case ends up in court
At the first trial, a judge agreed to the eviction action. The deaf woman named Sindy K. responded in court in writing as follows: "I don't have sex with every man who visits me." She continued: "I sell a lot of things through classified ads. But when I do have sex, I can't hear how loud it is because of my disability. But that's none of my neighbors' business either."
The decision to terminate the tenancy is not yet legally binding; 37-year-old Sindy K. is appealing. To be continued.
