Austria's ice hockey women have celebrated their first victory in their second game at the B-World Championship in the Heidi Horten Arena in Klagenfurt!

The Austrians outclassed promoted South Korea 6:0 (2:0, 0:0, 4:0) on Monday. Annika Fazokas (17th), who scored twice in the 2:3 against Norway the day before, captain Anna Meixner with a hat-trick (19th, 41st, 59th/PP), Lena Dauböck (57th) and Tamara Grascher (58th) scored the ÖEHV team to a clear success. The three points and the manner in which they were secured brought great relief to the red-white-red team.

"That gives us confidence for the next games!"
"We deliberately focused on playing quickly on the glass and that worked quite well. It's a must-win for us. Wins like this do you the world of good when you bring them home safely and the result is so clear, it gives you confidence for the next games," explained Fazokas.

Team boss Alexander Bröms preferred Magdalena Luggin to her older sister Selma in goal this time. The 18-year-old was hardly put to the test. The Austrians dominated right from the start, and towards the end of the first period they got their reward. Fazokas broke the spell after a beautiful move and finish into the corner of the net, Meixner added another before the first break after preparatory work by Theresa Schafzahl. After 27 seconds in the final period, a combination of the two professionals led to the third goal. After a pass from Schafzahl, Meixner shot into the short corner.

In the final period, Dauböck scored the first goal that was not on the top line with a backhand shot. The final goal was scored by Meixner, who completed her hat-trick in the power play. After a day's rest, the ÖEHV team will now face France (Wednesday, 7.30 p.m.) and Hungary (Friday, 8.25 p.m.), two teams relegated from the A World Championship. France were beaten 3-4 on penalties by Norway on Monday, while Hungary secured their second win with a 2-0 victory over the Netherlands and lead the table without losing any points.
