Altach coach admits:

“Not much more should have happened”

The title race in the Admiral Women's Bundesliga is more exciting than ever before. After twelve of 18 rounds, serial champions St. Pölten are just a single point ahead of runners-up Altach. While the Lower Austrians have a supposedly easy task today (12) at Bergheim, the Vorarlberg side have to face Neulengbach.

"Not much more should have happened," admitted Altach coach Berni Summer. "We only had three players on the bench against BW Linz recently. The situation was pretty tense then." It's a good thing that two injured players, Leonie Schmidle and Sarah Schneider, have returned ahead of today's game at Neulengbach (13:30/live on ORF Sport+). "That was a load off my mind. Both have the okay from the medical department, but the plan is for them to play against Vienna first, unless absolutely necessary," said Summer.

Horvat saves victory in the first leg
The fact that they are certainly not underestimating the sixth-placed team from Lower Austria is not only due to the narrow 2:1 home win in October, when Sabrina Horvat secured victory with a free-kick in the 93rd minute. "They play soccer with culture, not a 'hit-and-run' game," says the 56-year-old. "It's inexplicable to me why they keep having slip-ups like the recent 0:1 at home against Bergheim." The fact is: In the last seven meetings, Altach have won five and drawn two - the Rheindörfler's last defeat dates back to September 2020, a 3-0 loss in front of their own fans.
