Success in court
Feller opponent defends himself against speed camera penalty
German ski racer Linus Straßer has celebrated a success in court. The 31-year-old appealed against a speed camera penalty and had the case dropped.
His outstanding technique coupled with fast turns have already brought Straßer many a success on the piste. On the road, however, his speed almost cost him dearly. In December 2023, the 31-year-old drove through a 30 km/h speed limit zone in Munich at 53 km/h.
The result: he was flashed by a police officer and fined 115 euros. But the German didn't want to pay the fine just like that, because he felt the situation was unfair, as he emphasized to the "TZ" newspaper.
Concern for his family
The lane had narrowed at the point in question and Straßer only wanted to avoid a collision with a vehicle next to him with his maneuver. Especially as his wife and child were also in the car. "I thought the situation was unfair at the time. I also explained that to the police officer. But he didn't care," explains the racer.
However, Straßer didn't want to accept this so easily and went to court. There, the speed measurement was ultimately classified as questionable. Due to the low fine, the judge dispensed with an expert opinion and dropped the case. As a result, Straßer gets off without a penalty.
