"Another wake-up call"
Last Generation protests on the Pyhrn highway
The Last Generation once again drew attention to the climate crisis by blocking early morning traffic on the A9 Pyhrnautobahn in Styria. With their protest action, they are demanding a basic right to climate protection in the constitution.
Just after 8 a.m. on the dot, a total of nine participants lined up in the middle of the road and once again caused chaos in the early morning traffic. The police were also quickly on the scene to break up the action. According to the ÖAMTC, the resulting traffic jam stretched over ten kilometers.
"The time to act is now"
"Our protest today is another wake-up call. We don't like to cause disruption, but we won't stop - after all, it's about the continued existence of our civilization. The time to act is now. The fundamental right to climate protection must finally be enshrined in the constitution!"
Anchoring climate protection in the constitution
The Last Generation activists are calling for a "radical rethink" on the climate crisis. For example, they are calling for a ban on fracking and a speed limit of 100 km/h throughout Austria. They also want to use their new slogan "Right to survive" to draw attention to the anchoring of climate protection in the constitution.
