A man from Lungau (35) was lured into a trap with a fake lottery win of around 50,000 euros. 1000 euros are gone.

A fraudulent scam recently hit a 35-year-old man from Lungau when an unknown woman informed him of a supposed lottery win of around 50,000 euros on March 11. In order to claim the prize, the woman claimed that four voucher cards with codes from a company were needed.

The man from Lungau confidently bought the voucher cards on the Internet and gave the codes to the stranger, but without receiving the prize he had hoped for. He invested a total of 1000 euros in this campaign.

The police warn against unknown callers: "Think about whether it seems realistic that you could win something in a competition that you have not even taken part in. Don't be fooled by the amount of the prize or sudden unexpected wealth.
Under no circumstances should you disclose personal documents, bank details and other data, as this data can be used to commit further fraud."
