Brothel murder: “Hidden in the bushes with a knife”
After the brutal murder of three young Asian women in an erotic studio in Vienna's Engerthstraße, more and more details are coming to light. The suspect, an Afghan asylum seeker, is in custody, he had hidden in a bush not far from the crime scene. He had the bloody murder weapon with him.
What happened in the small Asia Studio is currently the subject of an investigation by the State Office of Criminal Investigation. For the time being, the provincial police department did not provide any information on the nationality or age of the victims.
Young Asian girls brutally massacred
The young Asian women had apparently worked in the establishment, but were also available for hotel and home visits. The police crime scene team was busy securing evidence on Saturday night and the crime scene was cordoned off over a large area. As Philipp Haßlinger, spokesman for the regional police headquarters, explained not far from the crime scene, the bodies showed massive stab wounds and cuts.
Suspect discovered in bushes
A 27-year-old man, who was discovered in a bush opposite the red-light restaurant by officers from the Brigittenau riot unit and the Brigittenau municipal police command, is a strong suspect in this case. As the "Krone" found out, he was an Afghan citizen who had applied for asylum in Austria in 2022.
Overpowered with a Taser
The man had to be subdued by police officers using a Taser. As he had minor cuts, he was arrested and taken to hospital. He was presumably the last visitor to the club - whether he had used services there or immediately attacked the women with a knife is completely unclear at the moment.
Blood trail led to suspected perpetrator
The police were alerted at 9 p.m. by a passer-by or local resident who had noticed a trail of blood running from the entrance area of the club to the opposite side of the street. There, the emergency services came across the 27-year-old. "He wanted to hide in a bush and had a knife in his hand," reported Haßlinger. Medical assistance was too late for the three victims of the violence. The police did not provide any information about the possible course of events or a possible motive. The suspect has also not yet been formally questioned as a defendant.
The injuries for which he was admitted to the casualty department of a Viennese hospital were probably self-inflicted during the fight with the women, who are said to have fought back at least partially. According to initial findings, the three women were probably the only staff present in the establishment at the time of the crime.
