There are increasing signs that Kurt Fischer (60) will not seek another term in office. The Lustenau People's Party has scheduled a press conference for Friday, at which the personnel plans will be officially announced.

Early Thursday afternoon, the Lustenau People's Party sent out an invitation for a press conference on Friday morning. It bears the meaningful title "Personnel decisions of the Lustenau People's Party for 2025". As is well known, municipal elections will be held in Vorarlberg next year - and Fischer will apparently no longer be standing in them. This comes as no great surprise, as the 60-year-old has long been accused of being somewhat tired of office and is also considered to be someone who knows how to keep himself busy even without a political mandate.

The Lustenau ÖVP will probably also announce who will take Fischer's place on Friday. According to VN, Patrick Wiedl (40), a member of the Lustenau state parliament, is to succeed the long-term local leader. It is not yet known whether Fischer will complete his term of office or whether there will be a flying change. Kurt Fischer has headed the market town since 2010.
