Hämmerle only sixth after double home win
Alessandro Hämmerle was unable to repeat his two recent home successes in the Snowboard Cross World Cup in Montafon on Canadian soil. The 30-year-old from Vorarlberg finished second in the "small final" in Mont-Sainte-Anne on Saturday, placing sixth overall.
Overall World Cup winner Eliot Grondin celebrated a home victory ahead of Australian Cameron Bolton and Czech Radek Houser. Another race follows on Sunday.
Jakob Dusek failed to finish third in the quarter-final run with Hämmerle and came ninth, while Julian Lüftner finished 17th. Pia Zerkhold was the only Austrian in the women's competition, with the 25-year-old from Lower Austria finishing in twelfth place. Great Britain's Charlotte Bankes triumphed ahead of France's Chloe Trespeuch and Lea Casta. A five-way battle to win the overall standings has turned into a duel. With 742 points, Trespeuch is comfortably ahead of Bankes (657).
